Come marvel at the creativity of 45 nationally acclaimed artists who will exhibit more than 220 works of art in oil, acrylic, pastel, drawings, and sculptures. Enjoy a special viewing of work by Featured Artist, oil painter, Leslie Kirchner. Watch the artists at work as they battle against the clock in Saturday’s Quick Draw and visit with them at their booths throughout the weekend. Co-Chair, Robert Poff explains that “A Gathering of Eagles moves back to its birth place, the San Dimas Civic Center and the Community Building, but with a twist —an enlarged gallery permitting 45 artists from across the country exhibiting 220 pieces of art in oil, watercolor, pastels, drawings, and sculptures.” The artwork will be unveiled at the Premier Opening Friday April 29th following the traditional Artists’ Reception and Dinner, beginning at 6 p.m. There is a $35 per person charge for the dinner. Judges will announce winners of gold, silver and bronze medals in four categories and the recipient of the “Best in Show” award at the 6 p.m. The awards dinner will be Saturday, April 30th. Winners will receive special ribbons. There will be a $25 per person charge for this dinner. Reservations are required for both dinners by calling (909) 599-5374. Admission to the gallery is free Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Art enthusiasts won’t want to miss Ms. Kirchner’s seminar at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday or the Artists’ Quick Draw, in which participants complete a work in 45 minutes, beginning at noon. This is followed by an auction at 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m., the San Dimas High School Drama Club will be performing and reading stories. Beginning at noon, Sculptor, Richard Myer, will give a clay demonstration and clay modeling workshop for all ages. The traditional Artists’ Auction begins at 1:00 p.m. At approximately 3:00 p.m. the Raffle drawing will take place, announcing the winner of a large original oil painting. Featured Artists: Leslie Kirchner Leslie was encouraged in early childhood by her parents and grandparents to be creative artistically. She remembers working with wood boxes and carving horses in them when she was just 9 years old. She took art classes with both of her grandmothers and has many cherished memories of those times. Horses were always a subject for her artistic endeavors, and have stayed that way. Leslie enjoys painting both wildlife and western subjects, striving to capture individual personalities, and create an emotional response to her work. Committed to depicting the subjects she paints accurately, she thoroughly researches those subjects as well as their habitats, vegetation and anatomy. Leslie often goes on research trips, not only to see the animals she likes to paint, but the landscapes as well. She plein air paints to help capture the natural lighting, color and mood of the places she visits.
